When Milan announced that they had signed David Beckham from the Los Angeles Galaxy on a loan-deal, the critics were divided. Some believed it was simply a publicity stunt, while others insisted the English international had something to offer the Rossoneri on the field.
"Beckham is officially a Milan player, even if it's for a short time," Milan vice president Adriano Galliani told Sky Sports at the match against Udinese.
"He's a player we already tried to sign in 2007, but he chose to go to Los Angeles. Now he asked to come play for us, not just to train."
One of the reasons Beckham joined Milan was to stay in shape for the England national team set-up under Fabio Capello and Galliani revealed that Beckham has been taking care of himself.
"We're satisfied that he is in good physical condition," he explained. "He'll be here for nine league games and then we'll see if he will play in the UEFA Cup as he would only be available during the round of 16."
In any case, 'Golden Balls' seems intent at making an impact for Milan as soon as possible. His first glimpse of action could be against Roma, when Serie A resumes after the winter break.
